to the garden.

Oliver Charles, Director and Designer.

Oliver trained in theatre production at the School of Performing Arts in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England and has enjoyed a successful career in stage lighting. Leveraging his spatial awareness and storytelling skills from his work at the National Theatre, Oliver transitioned into landscape and planting design. He built his business by connecting the garden design process with his previous production work at the BBC in London.

He founded Oliver Charles Gardens & Associates Limited in 2024. His goal is to create inspiring outdoor spaces by drawing on his extensive professional and creative expertise.

Oliver is an associate designer member of the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture (CHort). Oliver promotes best practices in horticulture. He is also involved with the Norfolk and Suffolk Gardens Trusts, charities dedicated to protecting gardens and designed landscapes in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Oliver is advancing his professional development with the British Academy of Garden Design. His studio is in Attleborough, Norfolk, and he works throughout the UK.

He is particularly interested in landscape architecture that designs natural spaces to enhance well-being and deliver environmental value in urban, rural and coastal settings. His work aims to seamlessly integrate gardens with their natural surroundings, for both contemporary and historic properties.
